#RugChic: learning to love the shag

Fendi + Celine

To say my newfound obsession is mild would be a gross understatement. I want anything and everything furry and/or fuzzy. Who doesn’t want to be a rug wearing Fendi pimp? And why wouldn’t you want your own portable rug in the form of Phoebe Philo’s hideous fur Birkenstocks? I say ‘hideous’ in the positive sense, of course.

There’s only one rule to all this: the tackier, the better.

“If you want to work in fashion, you need to know how to do many different things.” Milan Vukmirovic‘s own words could serve as the opening lines of his biography – a skim over his ‘about’ page will tell you that Mr. Vukmirovic co-founded Colette, was Creative Director at Trussardi, and since 2011 has been responsible for the menswear mecca Fashion For Men.

Aside from his work in fashion, Milan Vukmirovic is an incredibly skilled photographer. His vibrant, high-contrast images are a tangible manifestation of the man himself, and his creative vision. In particular, I was drawn to Skin, a series of 26 images shot by Vukmirovic. The black-and-white images are a mix of closeups and wider shots, nudes for the most part. At first merely beautiful photographs, the series becomes a creative study of the male ideal.

The (sale) gods must be crazy

Acne x Tretorn sneakers - Mint Maison

Acne leather sneakers (similar here and here)

It seems praying to the sale gods/having abnormally large feet paid off big time. On the last day of Incu’s annual warehouse sale, I chanced upon these sneakers from Acne’s collaboration with Tretorn for S/S 2009, for a mere $50 (big feet, big savings?). Clearly they’re not going to be leaving my feet any time soon.
